When time is of the essence, something like a document scanner could prove a life-saver. This particular one happens to be the size of a pen and it doesn’t need a computer to do its job. Who says you need a photographic memory?
It’s illegal to own one of these things in the United States or the European Union (just ask this guy), but a post-Brexit James Bond doesn’t care too much about that. And if somebody spots you with one, who are they gonna call? Nobody, because you’re jamming their cell phone. Check and mate.
Do yourself a favor and throw your basic $4 universal remote in the garbage can — that’s not a man-approved remote control, sorry. And, let’s face it, you lose it all too often anyway. One cool gadget you need in your life is a Logitech Harmony Home Control, a universal smart remote and base that allows you to use your smartphone as a remote as well. The device not only works with the majority of your entertainment devices, but also your home automation devices like Philips Hue or Nest Learning Thermostat (so you can lower the lights or change the temperature without even leaving your seat). The Logitech Harmony Home control works with over 270,000 devices, including TVs, satellite and cable boxes, blu-ray players, Apple TV, Roku, Sonos, Xbox, Philips Hue and more. So if you want to control the world around you without having to get up, pick up the Logitech Harmony Home Control — you’ll feel like a wizard!
What it does: Jam-makers and Sunday-roast-fanciers will get endless use from this nylon/silicone Mastrad Thermometer Spoon with detachable probe, which can measure temperatures from -40° to 250°C, with buttons for Celsius and Fahrenheit readings. Watching the bicyclists speed down New York streets while staring at their phones is scary enough. Integrating a 4-inch Android touchscreen into the bicycle for navigation, music playback and walk-talkie talking to other people not watching where they’re going, as LeEco has done, is just asking for trouble. But useful!
Introducing the Cocoon Tree… Are you looking for a different kind of camping experience? Check out Cocoon trees, which are kind of a wannabe tent. Actually, they are more than tents. They are private spaces where kids’ fantasies come true and where adventures become…
So, these were just some of the highlights from this year’s NAMM. Yes, we also saw amazing new gear from the likes of Pioneer DJ, Roland, Alesis, Native Instruments, and more, but these two little corners of the show wound up being incredibly intriguing. Companies are not just thinking about how to make music and music-making easy to approach, but how to provide solutions for consumers that enhance the gear they already own and cherish. Most of the aforementioned products fell in the price range of a couple hundred dollars — the The ONE Piano Hi-Lite is $229 and the Phase should retail for around $300 — and these slight investments can have much bigger payoffs for musicians.
What a great item! I gave this as a Christmas gift and the recipient who is really into gadgets and all things technology just LOVED it! Everyone in the room raved about how cool it was when he plugged it into a laptop to see it in action. Very cool item!
Robots are everywhere at CES this year, and Ubtech’s biped contains multitudes. The Walker is prepared to tackle your security needs, patrolling your home’s perimeter, detecting motion and recording incidents with its integrated camera. And when it’s quitting time, it can dance and play games. Pretty good for a robot with no arms.
Close any open applications and press the [Windows] + [L] keys to log out of your Windows account — or just restart Windows. On the login screen, click the Power icon at the bottom right, hold down the [Shift] key and select the Restart option.
It is no wonder that rechargeable batteries are in greater demand these days. Non-rechargeable batteries useless once their output is gone, you have to buy more and more once these batteries run out of energy, disposal is problematic due to environmental concerns,…
Despite how long it’s been around, haptic technology is still really in its infancy. Tanvas takes it a step towards toddlerhood with touch feedback that gives you a sense of what different materials feel like.
I created Spy Guy in 2014 to try to bring transparency and great customer service to people who need products from the ‘spy industry.’ Spy equipment can be confusing for people, like you, that have never used it before.
Acer had me at $9,000 gaming laptop (that’s about £7,300 or AU$12,400). But it also has a ginormous 21-inch curved screen — the first in a laptop — and an eye-tracking camera. Of course, it has nine heat pipes to cool the two GeForce GTX 1080 GPUs and two power supplies, four speakers and two subwoofers, plus it weighs 19.4 pounds (8.8 kg).
…because when you’re down to the wire you’re going to need a little help.  Time to get creative!   Ho ho huh?  With dozens of people to buy for, there’s always going to be someone who you inadvertently forget.  Don’t worry, there’s still some time to place that order on or run to that store. […]
Unique is a revolutionary strap which will turn any watch into a smart one. Thanks to its multi-color LED, vibration alerts and gesture recognition, the strap lets you receive notifications, reject inconvenient phone calls, send pre-written texts, monitor your fitness, store all your security or transport passes, and of course remind you if you left your phone behind.
With every Black Friday sale overflowing with 4K TVs, LG had no choice but to go all out on 8K for this year’s CES. And this 88-inch behemoth will blow your eyes out of your head with its 7,680×4,320-pixel resolution — four times that of your now-middling 4K set and 16 times more than a pitiable standard full-HD TV. You’ll still have to wait for actual 8K things to watch, however.
When walking at night, are you the type of person who waits for their eyes to adjust to the light, or do you prefer to have a flashlight with you? Both feel a bit ominous at times in completely different ways, mainly because we can’t see a full picture of everything that’s in front of us. If you could see it all whether it’s day or night, would you want to?

Think of spying anyone sitting in front of you across a table with a small little button fitted onto your shirt. Match the buttons on your shirt with this tiny gadget and activate its non-stop recording. It is a simple video recorder to capture, but to be unnoticed of spying, it is the skill of the operator who operates this utility and to be as realistic as possible.
The newest iteration of the Apple watch managed to keep everything that was great about the first and do away with just about all the drawbacks. Now you can use it without having to keep your phone on you (like during a workout), you can customize it more than ever before, and it is water-resistant enough that you could swim laps while wearing it.

The Misty I, on the other hand, is but a wee baby robot — though one born into an esteemed family that’s laser-focused on its future. Misty Robotics is the spin-off startup created last year by Sphero founder Ian Bernstein and Tim Enwall, who came from Nest Labs. Their goal: cultivate a community of developers that can build up Misty’s skill set over the next decade.
It is the best fitness watch to come out of Garmin, and the company has made a lot. The watch has all the features you need in a fitness gadget, including GPS tracking, sleep tracking and heart rate monitoring. What’s more, it comes with an attractive colour display that you’d usually pay a premium for.
The Moov Now doesn’t have all the bells and whistles you would associate with a fitness tracker. It doesn’t have GPS tracking, it doesn’t even have a screen; but what it does have is a cheap price tag and six-month battery life. Yes, you read that right: six months.
Dyson’s forthcoming Cyclone V10 Cordless vac is a cord killer. Powered by their most advanced digital motor yet, this lightweight vac has 20% more suction power than the outgoing model and holds up to 40% more dirt. The battery has also been improved. It runs for a full 60 minutes on a charge & recharges in 3.5 hours. Available next month.
Pretty much any gadget with lasers is the ultimate in spy gear, which is why we like the new vehicular technology from StarChase. To help prevent dangerous police chases, StarChase developed a system that is capable of aiming a laser at the back of a vehicle and firing a projectile that contains a GPS receiver, wireless transmitter, and battery. This, in turn, tracks a vehicle’s whereabouts. The data is then delivered via secure Internet connection to a dispatch center. There are more than 100,000 high-speed pursuits in the U.S. every year according to the company, but StarChase is hoping to reduce that with this safer and more effective way to catch criminals.
Other useful household tech and gadgets are our digital food thermometer and kitchen appliance range. Serious chefs know that getting the temperature of roast joints or cake can be the difference between success and failure. This electronic gadget will help you probe the food and get an accurate digital readout.

It’s not just a cool-looking voice assistant like the Amazon Echo and countless others. The Pebble’s twist: Melody, your guide, can recognize voices and change its activities based on the individual who’s talking. Plus, it really is an assistant, with the ability to manage your calendar.
On the education side, Blipblox was one of the more interesting items on the floor. A synth designed for three to eight-year-old kids, the Blipblox has arrow paths on top connecting all the buttons to show the synth’s signal chain. The idea is to get children interested in synthesis basics early on. But, there’s no iconography on the Blipblox itself to hint at what the buttons do, so it’s hard to say how much kids will really learn as opposed to just mashing buttons. The company told me that if kids want to learn more, they can read the manual that comes with it, but that seems to defeat the product’s purpose.
