With every Black Friday sale overflowing with 4K TVs, LG had no choice but to go all out on 8K for this year’s CES. And this 88-inch behemoth will blow your eyes out of your head with its 7,680×4,320-pixel resolution — four times that of your now-middling 4K set and 16 times more than a pitiable standard full-HD TV. You’ll still have to wait for actual 8K things to watch, however.

Even though CES is known for TVs, robots, and cars, it’s also known to offer a dazzling assortment of smaller pieces of tech that can only be described as “gadgets.” This year’s show offered a pretty interesting assortment of breakthrough technologies, so we roamed the show floor and dug through all the press releases to find eight of the coolest gadgets announced during CES 2018. Some of which ship in just a few weeks, while others might never see the light of day if the past is prologue.
This is one of the latest generation smart TVs, with a massive 40-inch LED display and 4K video resolution capabilities as well as all the tools and programs that a smart TV needs. It is capable of delivering some of the clearest and most vibrant pictures that you can imagine because of the fact that it offers a resolution that is four times greater than other forms of high definition on the market. With its sleek and thin edge frame, watching videos, movies, and enjoying everything from your favorite soap opera to the news is now a more comfortable experience overall.
All of LG’s OLED televisions include exactly the same panel, which means that although the C7 is a fraction of the price of the flagship W7, it still looks stunning. The reason for the lower price is in the sound quality, but we think the C7’s audio strikes a good balance between price and performance.
The GrillBot is here to make sure your next dinner finishes on a high note. Just pop the Bot onto your barbeque, shut the lid and let the Bot’s brushes do their job. You’ll still have to clean under the grill, but the tedious job of scrubbing fat from between the metal rods is a thing of the past.
This brand-new fitness tracker by Withings may look like a conventional round-face, analog watch, but packs quite a ton of features as well. It can track your heart rate, steps, and distance continuously, wake you up in the morning and tell you the quality of your sleep. The second-to-none battery life of up to 25 days is ground-breaking and will give you the freedom you deserve using a fitness tracker. It is fully water resistant up to 50 metres, so you could even go swimming with it
No one should ever drive drunk, but it can be difficult to monitor your blood alcohol content levels without taking a breathalyzer test. While there are some small breathalyzers ar on the market, they can be clumsy and awkward to use in public. Proof is a unique and elegant solution to this problem, as it’s a wearable wristband that can discretely analyze you BAC levels through your skin. The makers of Proof managed to earn nearly twice what they were asking for after launching a successful crowdfunding campaign. The wristband is set to begin shipping at full production capacity in late 2017.
If there’s one high-tech weapon we’ve always wanted, it’s a laser. They’re always burning through doors or threatening to cut people in half as part of complicated deathtraps, and they just look so damn cool. Amazingly, laser weaponry has advanced to a point where it’s being used for law enforcement, and even though you’re not likely to cleanly sever an assailant’s arm with one, you can still employ it for self-defense.
This box is the most novel gift you can buy for any man this year. Each time you use it, it turns itself off. Turn the switch on; it turns itself off again. There really is no end to what you can do with this box, and it can even glow in red. The Useless Box Gift comes with clear instructions and provides endless trickery and enjoyment.
The coffee press is straightforward to set up and brew, which is something your pre-caffeinated morning brain will be thankful for. It’ll make enough coffee to fill four mugs and is dishwasher friendly if you don’t feel like washing up.
It’s one thing to have a dedicated heat sink and cooling vent for your CPU. But, if you’re talking about high end gaming laptops especially those in the range of 15 and 17 inches, you know that a 2-cooler system simply won’t cut it. What you need is the Tree New Bee’s 4-cooling fan system that’s designed specifically for gaming desktop replacements. Each of these 120 millimeter cooling fans rotates at an amazing 1,200 RPM to help dissipate heat from your laptop. It also comes with anti-skid arms to help secure your laptop onto any surface. It looks amazingly cool, too.
The BoomBottle offers excellent audio quality. So, even if you turn up the volume, you won’t experience any unpleasant tinniness to the sound. The speaker charges using a USB port and there’s a headphone jack if you want to plug in and listen to your music more discretely.
Meanwhile, French company MWM showed a prototype for something called Phase, which works with DVS-style DJ software (like Serato DJ) to eliminate the need for a tonearm and stylus when playing off control vinyl. It works with remotes that are affixed to the vinyl that then communicate rotation information via radio signals to a receiver that is connected to your laptop. This was my personal favorite, because not only does it solve all the issues that happen when playing with a traditional tonearm and stylus (everything from dust under a needle to needle skips from someone bumping into your setup), it can be used with any existing turntable. We saw several DJs performing complicated scratch routines using Phase with virtually no latency. Enhancia also made an appearance, demoing their MIDI ring that enables musicians to perform musical effects with simple gestures.
The Ultimate DIY Tesla Kit If you’re fascinated by the idea of electricity, or you’ve idealized Tesla for as long as you can remember, you might enjoy the Tesla coil kit. It’s a DIY model that actually works, and it’s more than it appears to be. Whether you’re new to…
The “est-iest” TV we’ve ever seen, LG’s new W7 65- and 77-inch TVs are the thinnest, lightest and potentially the best-picture quality TVs to hit the wall. Plus, LG claims the picture quality of these are better than last year’s, which are pretty terrific.
Built to rival Porsche’s Panamera, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door is not your average family sedan. Case in point: 429 horsepower and a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.4 seconds. And that’s in the “base” model. Available in the U.S. in 2019.
LG kicked things off on Sunday with a TV from the realm of science fiction — a 65-inch 4K OLED display that rolls into a tube, like an upside down window shade. Imagine it at the foot of your four-poster bed or the end of your luxury bath. We can dream that this futuristic boob tube will hit the market soon, but LG hasn’t announced pricing or availability, let alone an explanation of how the thing actually works.

Just when we thought we couldn’t wireless technology any than we do.  If you’re like us, you’re sick of worrying about what’s happening inside and outside of your house when you’re not there.  Who’s lurking around the backyard or who’s the jerk who’s stealing your packages right off your front steps and taking them […]
There’s a countably infinite supply of noise-cancelling headphones at CES, but these manage to rise above the noise. You can set the Hero headphones to allow certain voices through and block everything else; while Sidekick is a version of them that you fit on your existing headphones. This is what the future should sound like.
If you have a smartphone with Qi capabilities, you’ll need a qi charger for your car, too. The best that we’ve come across is the Montar Air Qi Wireless Charging Car Mount. It’s incredibly easy to setup, and it’s easily mounted. It has a holder that rotates a full 360 degrees, so you can set your phone up however you prefer and then keep it how you like it, thanks to a tightening mechanism on the back. And unlike some of the other qi chargers I’ve tested, the Montar Air Qi just simply works. Put your phone on the base, and it begins charging; no fuss, no tinkering, or none of the “is it charging now…how about now?” And now that it’s roughly half of the price it was at launch (now it’s $59.99), it’s well worth the pick-up.
